Another amazing black woman owned and operated business! Just across the street from Community Books at 2500 Bayou Rd in New Orleans, Louisiana, King & Queen specializes in handmade soaps, oils, incense and a fantastic head-to-toe body glaze whipped up by the resident mixologist Empress Andaiye. They also carry a small selection of books and CD's, including Border Crossing and Spirit of the Orisha, the book+CD set created by Sula Spirit, the shop's other owner, and their band, Zion Trinity. After exploring several printing options, I chose CreateSpace, which was a farily painless porcess. Fear not, booksellers - I am in the process of setting Border Crossing up as a title with Ingram so that you can stock copies using the industry standard distributor.
